What happens if you pay tuition a few days late?

Two or three days is almost never a problem — but only if you tell them before the deadline, not after.

What actually happens:

1. Schools do cancel admission for non-payment, but that is for students who simply never pay and never respond. Nobody is watching a clock to void your place at midnight.

2. International transfers routinely arrive one to four days late because of intermediary banks, weekends and holidays. Every international office deals with this every single term. They are not surprised by it.

3. What they need is evidence that the payment is in flight. Send the transfer receipt or the bank's confirmation, with the date sent and the amount, to the admissions or international office before the deadline. One short email is enough.

What to write: your name, application or student number, the amount, the date you sent it, and the expected arrival date. Attach the receipt. Ask them to confirm receipt of your email — that reply is your protection.

What genuinely does cause problems:

- Silence. A missing payment with no explanation is the case where places get released.

- A payment that arrives with a different sender name and no reference, so the school cannot match it to you. Always put your name and student number in the transfer reference field.

- Paying the wrong amount because the bank took fees off the top. Send the full amount plus a small buffer, or choose the option where you pay all charges.

Email them today rather than on the deadline. A school that knows your money is coming will hold your place; a school that hears nothing has to assume you withdrew.
