How do I make friends at language school? Scared no one will sit next to me

This is the most common worry we hear, and it almost never turns out the way people fear.

Everyone in your class is in exactly the same situation — new country, no Korean, no friends. That shared situation does most of the work for you.

What actually helps in week one:
- Say yes to the first lunch. The first week is when groups form. One lunch is usually enough to be inside one.
- Sit somewhere different for the first few days rather than claiming a seat at the back.
- Join the school's language exchange or buddy programme — most universities run one and it's free.
- Your classmates are your network, not just your friends. They're who you'll ask about visa renewals, part-time jobs and apartments later.
