Extending the D-4 for a third semester — what do they ask for?
i came for 2 semesters and now i want to stay longer. do they check your grades and attendance for the extension?

Yes, they check attendance and grades, and yes, you need to show funds again. Here is the full list.
What immigration asks for at a D-4 extension:
1. Certificate of enrolment for the upcoming term, issued by your school.
2. Attendance record for the terms you have completed. This is the one that decides the outcome. Above 90 percent is routine, 80 to 90 gets questions, below 80 is a real risk of refusal.
3. Transcript or level completion record. Grades matter far less than attendance, but repeatedly failing the same level looks like you are not actually studying, which is the thing they are screening for.
4. Proof of funds, again. Usually a balance certificate covering the coming semester's tuition and living costs. The original proof from your first application does not carry over.
5. Tuition receipt for the new term, proof of address, the extension fee (60,000 won), and your ARC.
Timing: apply no earlier than four months and no later than the day your current visa expires. Do it at least two to three weeks early because of the appointment shortage — this is where students get squeezed.
One thing that surprises people: extensions are usually smoother than the original visa. You are already in the system, your record speaks for you, and the officer can see you have been attending. Students with clean attendance almost never have a problem.

that's encouraging, mine is around 95

the funds thing caught me out. i assumed the first bank certificate covered me forever. had to scramble to get a new one in a week

same, and the certificate has to be recent, like within a month. don't get it too early either

book the appointment the moment you decide to extend. the paperwork is easy, getting the slot is the hard part

they asked me what i wanted to do after language school. i said graduate program and they nodded and stamped it. have an answer ready

i mean it was true for me. i wouldn't recommend inventing one, they do remember
