Someone else created my application account — is that normal?

It is common practice, particularly when applying through an agency or when the school's portal is Korean-only. But you should take ownership of it immediately, and here is why that matters.

Why it happens: many university portals require a Korean phone number for verification, or the interface is Korean-only, so schools and agencies routinely create the account and hand over the credentials. It is not in itself a warning sign.

What you should do now:

1. Log in yourself and change the password. Today. Whoever created it can otherwise see and change your application, your documents and your personal data indefinitely.
2. Change the recovery email and phone to yours if the portal allows it.
3. Check that the name, date of birth and passport number on the account match your passport exactly. Errors entered by someone else are the most common cause of a rejected application, and you are the only person who will spot them.
4. Download or screenshot every document that has been uploaded on your behalf, so you have your own copy of what was submitted.
5. Confirm which email address the school sends notifications to. If it is the agency's, ask for it to be changed to yours, or at minimum to be added. You want to hear from the school directly.

What would actually be a problem: an agency that refuses to give you the login, will not change the contact email to yours, or will not show you what was submitted. Any of those is a reason to push hard and, if it continues, to contact the school's international office directly with your name and application number.

The underlying principle: it is your application, your documents and your visa. Someone helping you is fine; someone holding your access is not. A legitimate helper hands over the keys without hesitation when asked.
