You must be physically in Korea by the arrival deadline — the level test is held in person the next day (for Autumn 2026: arrive by 25 Aug, test on 26 Aug). Miss it and you cannot start. Your Certificate of Admission for the visa is issued only after tuition is paid, and both dormitory places and morning-class places are allocated in order of payment — new students usually end up in the afternoon class, and the slot cannot be changed once term starts. The bank certificate must be an original issued within 30 days, in your own name or a parent’s (a sibling’s only if both parents have died), and your diploma needs either an apostille or Korean consular authentication, issued in Korean or English. If more than a year passed since you graduated, you must explain the gap.
Eligibility

Three questions, then you know

1
How long do you plan to study?
2
Have you finished high school (or will you before classes start)?
3
Can you show ₩10,000,000 (or USD 8,000 · EUR 7,500 · CNY 60,000) in a bank account, yours or a parent’s?

A day here

Out of Exit 2, four hours, then Wangsimni

Class is only four hours a day, morning or afternoon. Everything else is your time — enjoy Korea, work part-time, or do nothing at all.
4 h
Class — morning or afternoon
Four hours a day, five days a week (09:00–13:00 or 14:00–18:00 · Mon–Fri). That is the whole timetable.
The rest of the day is yours
Explore the city, meet people, study in a café, travel on weekends — or work part-time, which a D-4 allows from six months after entry.
Language exchange
Student clubs and exchange meetups run through the week around Wangsimni, Seongdong-gu, Seoul — the fastest way to actually speak.
Homework
Expect one to two hours a night. Level tests every two weeks keep you honest.
