Hanyang International Summer School (HISS)
HISS is a four-week international program at Hanyang University that allows students to take credit-bearing English-taught courses while experiencing life in Seoul.
The program also includes cultural activities such as K-pop dance workshops, Taekwondo classes, museum and palace visits, and trips to major attractions across Korea.

Hanyang International Summer School (HISS) is a 4-week summer program in Seoul where you can take credit-bearing English-taught courses, enjoy campus life, and explore Korean culture with students from all over the world.
Each summer, HISS brings together thousands of international students on Hanyang University’s Seoul campus. You can choose from a wide range of courses in business, engineering, social sciences, Korean studies, and more — and earn credits that may be transferred back to your home university.
Outside the classroom, HISS offers K-pop dance workshops, Taekwondo, cultural excursions, and visits to famous landmarks in and around Seoul. It’s a chance to experience Korean university life, make global friends, and turn your summer break into something unforgettable.
Fees & Tuition (HISS)
Here is a simple breakdown of the main HISS costs. Amounts in USD are approximate and for guidance only.
Paid once when you apply to HISS. These fees are non-refundable.

Standard tuition for one 4-week Hanyang International Summer School session.
A merit-based scholarship for students who are talented in photography and filming. Scholarship amounts are decided by HISS and may reduce your tuition.
- Eligible to students who are talented in photography and filming
- Up to 3 students per session will be selected as Hanyang Ambassadors
- Ambassadors must complete media missions given by the HISS team
- Scholarship may be awarded as a tuition discount (for example, around ₩800,000 off)
Housing for HISS students
Hanyang University offers the main on-campus dormitory option. ALLO KOREA also books safe off-campus rooms for students who prefer more privacy or flexibility.
Twin room dormitory about 15 minutes’ walk from campus. Simple, safe, and convenient for HISS students.
- Twin room with private bathroom (shower/toilet)
- Furniture: Bed, bedding, wardrobe, desk, chair
- Facilities: Wi-Fi, heating/cooling, shared laundry & microwave room
Assigned on a first-come basis. ALLO KOREA helps you apply early when HISS opens dorm registration.
Recommended stay: June 29 → July 26 (27 nights). All options include Wi-Fi and basic furniture.
Health Insurance Requirement
All HISS students must be covered by health or travel insurance for the entire program. Proof of insurance must be uploaded at least 2 weeks before the program begins.
Students may use insurance purchased from their home country.

- Full policy document must be submitted
Optional group insurance that can be purchased in Korea through wire transfer.
- Group rate: ₩25,000–₩30,000
- Covers accidents, injuries, emergency treatment

Courses & Credits
Choose from a wide range of academic and elective courses taught in English. Build your own summer schedule while earning credits that may transfer back to your home university.
Please note that all courses are subject to change.
A minimum choice of 1 course is required.

Elective Course: 2 credits with 30 contact hours
